Jessie J dominates the Mobo nominations


Pop star Jessie J has topped this year's Mobo shortlist with five nominations, including best song. The 23-year-old, real name Jessica Cornish, is also recognised in the best album, best newcomer, best video and best UK act categories.
Jessie J shares the best newcomer category with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Emeli Sande and Rizzle Kicks. Adele, whose “21” is the biggest-selling album of the year, receives four nominations, as do rappers Tinie Tempah and Wretch 32.

Beyonce, Snoop Dogg, Cee-Lo Green and Rihanna are in competition for best international act. The ceremony will take place in Glasgow on 5 October. Winners are selected by a public online vote.

Anne Hathaway to star in “Les Miserables”


Anne Hathaway is currently in negotiations to star as Fantine in Tom Hooper's film version of "Les Miserables". In February, while serving as co-host of the Oscars, the actress sang "On My Own", a song from the musical.
So thanks to her performance as host of this year's Academy Awards, she might be getting a starring role in the upcoming film. Apparently former Oscar host Hugh Jackman, who is set to play Jean Valjean in the Broadway show, recommended Hathaway for the part.

For the moment, the actress’ representative didn’t give any official statement about the news. Anne Hathaway will be next seen as Catwoman in the upcoming "The Dark Knight Rises".

VMAs break audience record


MTV claimed its biggest audience ever for Sunday's Video Music Awards, pulling in 12.4 million total viewers.
The show’s top moments were the performance by Lady Gaga showing up as her male alter ego, Jo Calderone. News of Beyonce's pregnancy, which broke just before the show, was the peek of the night. The show was up 8 percent over last year's VMAs in the demo, and 9 percent in total viewers. MTV said it was the network's most-watched telecast of all time in the 12-34 demo.

MTV Digital also had its highest VMA day ever on Sunday, with VMA content drawing two million unique visitors, a 33 percent increase over last year.

Zoe Saldana to star in new supernatural film


Zoe Saldana will be starring next in “Colombiana” and she's already lining up another project.
She'll produce and star in “Dominion”, a mysterious supernatural thriller that's being set up at Paramount. Producers have yet to reveal the details of this new project except for the fact that Saldana will play a woman who is half-angel, half-human.

“The Avatar” actress has recently finished shooting “The Words” with Bradley Cooper, in which he plays an author who steals someone else's work. Next, she'll shoot JJ Abrams-produced indie drama “Infinitely Polar Bear” with Mark Ruffalo.
