Hugo Weaving goes bad in “Captain America”

12/03/10 | by admin | Categories: News

The Australian actor who plays Mr. Smith in “Matrix” franchise is in negotiations to play the villainous Red Skull in “Captain America”.

The Marvel Studios project remains in search of the actor to play Steve Rogers, Captain America’s alter ego. It will be directed by Joe Johnston, who recently worked with Weaving for “The Wolfman.” In the Marvel comics, Red Skull has been Captain America’s archenemy since 1941 but they were revived for the 1990 “Captain America” movie.

Reporters say Weaving has not yet sealed a deal to play Rogers’ archenemy, saboteur and spy who worked as Hitler’s right-hand man.

Ralph Fiennes to shoot “Coriolanus”

11/03/10 | by admin | Categories: News

Actor Ralph Fiennes will start working on his directing debut. He will film “Coriolanus” inspired from the Shakespeare tragedy next week in Serbia.

The shooting will start on March 17 and the actor expects it to last at least two months. He will also play the leading role: a Roman general who betrays his native city Rome and allies with his sworn enemy Tullus Aufidius for revenge. Gerard Butler will play Aufidius.

Fiennes said he chose Belgrade rather than better known locations in Eastern Europe because “there’s a spirit to Belgrade which I liked and responded to. There’s history in the stones and I needed the weight of a capital city.”
